Ujima is a unique and successful young people’s project based in the heart of Chapeltown, Leeds. Our purpose is to support local young people to realise their fullest potential both academically and personally so that they thrive now and in their future lives.
Academically, Ujima focuses on improving skills in English and Mathematics . Just as importantly, we support emotional and social development. The children attending the project range from reception age to GCSE students.
We have a partnership with Leeds Beckett University, who continue to support us with our goals ..Over the years the university has provided financial support and advice and committed student volunteers .
Now in our fourth year, Ujima has grown from just one small classroom to three and we continue to grow as a voluntary organisation.
